Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is the son of Baseball Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero and was signed by the Blue Jays as an international free agent in 2015. After being named Minor League Player of the Year, Guerrero made his major league debut in 2019. Guerrero became the youngest Blue Jay to hit a home run, broke the MLB record for most home runs in a single month, and broke the home run record in the Home Run Derby. In 2021, he led the major leagues in home runs, runs scored, and total bases. Guerrero was voted to the American League (AL) All-Star roster in 2021, during which he was voted MVP, the youngest to do so in All-Star Game history, while also finishing second in AL MVP votes for the season. He won the AL Hank Aaron Award, the Tip O’Neill Award, and a Gold Glove Award. By winning the 2023 Home Run Derby, the Guerreros became the first father-son duo ever to win the competition.
